Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Chaya, which yes, is quite a different name. I pronounce it Sh-aya, but the origin of my name is actually the Hebrew word for Life. I was born and raised in Arizona and don’t ever plan on leaving this sunny state! To tell you a little bit about me, I am a natural born redhead and have the privilege of being the oldest sibling of 5 kids! I am an artist; I love to dance, draw, write, craft… Create! Some of my favorite moments are spent with my family, surrounded by God’s beautiful creation in the outdoors, organizing things/ making lists (yes, I do enjoy those things), and making other people smile. I have grown up in a Christian home, but after some ups and downs in my life, I rededicated my life to Jesus Christ during high school. By His grace and mercy, He has brought me here and molded me into the woman I am now, and I pray that He blesses this opportunity and uses me to shine His light to the world! ~Matthew 5:16~

Sparrows & Rubies is a place for anyone to come to in order to hear about the Word and, God willing, grow and learn with me. Throughout my life, the Lord has been gently teaching me about my worth and value in Him. After years of struggling with seeing myself through His eyes, I was reminded over and over throughout the Bible that our value, our hope, our faith, is to be found in Christ alone. Proverbs 31:10 says “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her worth is far more than rubies.” And then fast forward to Matthew 10:31, “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside of your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” This really stood out to me, the imagery of how precious and valuable the children of God are and how much he treasures us. If we view it the way it was intended to be seen, we realize just how precious and valuable we are to God. If He can take care of all the birds and make sure they are feed and provided for, what do you think he will do for us, His children? It just really put things into perspective for me, that such a might God, the one who made the vast numbers of stars and grains of sand on the beach, can love us on such a personal level through Jesus. Over three years ago, this truth brought me to my knees and through Him, my heart was renewed… revived! And ever since the moment He sparked that fire in me, I am so overwhelmed with the desire to share the good news and give Him glory! So I pray that this is and will be a place of honesty, of truth, of sincerity. I pray Sparrows & Rubies is Christ-centered, God-inspired, and Holy Spirit-driven! And together, I pray that there is a sense of encouragement, communion, laughter, and just pure, authentic fellowship. Know that whatever it is you’re going through, wherever you are in life, however you may be feeling, there are fellow brothers and sisters right here with you. “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them.” ~Matthew 18:20~

With much love,
